World Mental Health Day: Let’s Call Out the Crazy

Crosses

Each day we are inundated with media messages as well widely accepted societal and workplace norms that are counter intuitive to our soul’s wisdom, lowest common denominators that go against our deepest inner knowing.  Living within this out-of-balance world destabilizes our mental health and emotions.

Photoshopped models set impossible and unrealistic standards of beauty and spur painful inner conflict that can lead to eating disorders; highly processed foods filled with preservatives deplete brain function; conspicuous consumerism and being sold product after product attunes us to a faulty tower of satisfaction that is certain to eventually crumble to the ground.

We idolize youth and dread aging. We offer praise in the workplace for running at full speed and forever filling the day with activity, at the expense of health, family and personal fulfilment. Standard medical practice and prescriptions introduce poisons and toxins to the body that numb body and brain function.

This is fallacy, widely accepted insanity. And it is not the truth. None of it.

Many so termed mental health problems are symptoms manifest from living in a world that is out of balance, a world where, collectively, we live out of alignment from a deeper inner truth and intuitive knowing.

Hand with a Heart for Mental Health

AS THE GREAT FAÇADE RUNS FULL COURSE, IS IT ANY WONDER WE SEEK HELP FOR HELP FOR STRESS, DEPRESSION, ADDICTIONS AND ANXIETY?

Then often ashamed, we are further labelled with a mental health disorder and find ourselves in the care of well-meaning medical practitioners who have been trained to alleviate symptoms, rather than support the person to a deepened understanding that uproots the source of imbalance.

Is it really so surprising that the number of antidepressants given to patients in England has doubled in a decade?

As the collective state of our people is not one of mental or physical fitness, inclusivity and ease, a vicious cycle provides fertile ground for further insomnia, worry and emotional drama.

As we run our world counter intuitively to a deeper wisdom, how can we ever achieve balance and peace by outer means?

Are those who feel anxiety from living in a world of fast food MacDonald’s messages truly unstable?

Are the children raised by blaming, domineering parents (as raised by their parents) mentally unfit? Is Ritalin really the answer?

Are those of us taught to make the grade, achieve at all possible cost and attain the best education and career–yet left mentally fragile once the great mirage of the career pinnacle collapses and the notion of enduring happiness drifts away–are we really unstable?

Or is our mental fitness simply a reflection of out-of-balance family, community, society?

Love

WE ARE THE NOT CRAZY ONES. IT’S TIME TO CALL OUT AND REVEAL THE INSANITY.

Those running roughshod over others for personal gain are mentally imbalanced.

Those who repeatedly cheat on and abuse partners and friends are psychologically dangerous to be near and, collectively, further generate a societal mistrust and fear in potential partners.

Social media is filled with conflict-inducing messages of crazy: Vitriolic attacks of gays, blacks, Mexicans, women.

Hatred is the mental disorder.

Conspicuous consumption is a mental imbalance.

Terrorists are crazy.

Financial gluttony is mental health issue.

Animal abusers are mentally imbalanced.

Emotional abuse is crazy. Sexual abuse is crazy.

Abuse. Is. Crazy.

YOU AND I ARE AWAKE to WORLDLY IMBALANCES.

We address the imbalance one class, one meeting, one family holiday, one intervention, one friendship and one enduring relationship at a time.

On this, World Mental Health Day, we break free and become sane.

We experience balance when outer understanding reflects a balanced inner reality and our inner experience responds skilfully to an outer reality.

On World Mental Health Day, we reclaim our sanity where, through inner alignment with our true authenticity, a painful inner dissonance begins to dissolve. We inevitably come to ease while operating within this barrage of messages in our world that are not life enhancing.

Our individual kindness and compassion, in turn, supports collective, mass kindness and compassion and others, too, begin to calm.

Our choices in thought, words and actions are better for our families, our community and the planet.

We recognize deep connection and treat animals as a very reflection of our own nature.

During times of vulnerability, we choose to come close to our partner, rather than pushing them away due to world crazy conditioning that has been unwittingly passed on to us.

We gaze upon another and instead of being envious of looks, career or money, we are happy for the way a person excels.

It is time to be fully awake, to gather with positive people who think critically and to be in relationship with others who are awake and wise.

It is time to shed the ill-fitting clothes of all that an imbalanced society told you should be. This is not the standard for excellence: Only exploration of your deepest inner reality, your deepest inner truth establishes that bar.

Therein lives our mental clarity, our emotional balance and the reclamation and, indeed, fulfilment of the very purpose of life.
